QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF SEA LEVEL DATA by the UH SEA LEVEL CENTER/NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA CENTER JOINT ARCHIVE FOR SEA LEVEL updated: 24 May 2017 Station : Sedili Latitude: 01 55.9N Country : Malaysia Longitude: 104 06.9E JASL # : 324A Time Meridian: 120E (GMT + 8 hr) GLOSS # : none Originator #: SED NODC #: 10101401 Contributor : Dept. of Survey and Mapping Jalan Gurney 50578 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Originator : same Original Data: digital; samples taken every 10 sec; 50 sec average Instrmnt Type: Magnetic Tape Type Tide Gauge, Model LLT- 3AD (Kyowa Shoko Co. LTD, Japan) Digitzd Intvl: one hour Present Data : Hourly, daily, and monthly values obtained by: Hourly : Five-point least squares approximation (more information available from the address above) Daily : 119-point convolution filter (Bloomfield, 1976) centered on noon applied to the hourly data with respective periods of the 95, 50, and 5% amplitude points at 124.0, 60.2, and 40.2 hours Monthly: Simple average of all daily values; calculated if 7 or fewer days are missing Span of data : 22 Dec 1986 - 10 Dec 2015 Gaps > 1 mon : 14 Jun 1990 - 15 Jul 1990;17 Aug 2012 - 21 Sep 2012 Time Refernce: GMT (hours 00-23) Space-filler Flag :-9999 Units : millimeters Missing Data Flag : 9999 Existing : Yes Operational : Yes Sat. Trans. : No Distribution : 1986-2015 Refernce Levl: The sea level heights are referred to the zero point assigned to the tide gauge. Bench mark information is available upon request from the contributors. Comment : The residual series contain fluctionations with frequencies near the diurnal and semi-diurnal modes; these are probably due to shallow water tides that are not resolved by the harmonic analysis. The daily and monthly means of Sedili and neighboring station, Johor Bahru, agree very well and no obvious reference level shifts or trends are apparent.
