QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF SEA LEVEL DATA by the UH SEA LEVEL CENTER/NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA CENTER JOINT ARCHIVE FOR SEA LEVEL updated: 03 Dec 2019 Station : Wyndham Latitude: 15 27.2S Country : Australia Longitude: 128 06.1E JASL # : 165A Time Meridian: 120E (GMT + 8 hr) GLOSS # : none Originator #: 63090 NODC #: 31125801 Contributor : National Tidal Centre, Bureau of Meteorology PO Box 421 Kent Town SA 5071 South Australia AUSTRALIA Originator : Government of Western Australia Dept. of Planning and Infrastructure Original Data: digital Instrmnt Type: float/pulley assembly and stilling well Digitzd Intvl: 5 minute Present Data : Hourly, daily, and monthly values obtained by: Hourly : cubic fit to 5 minute observations Daily : 119-point convolution filter (Bloomfield, 1976) centered on noon applied to the hourly data with respective periods of the 95, 50, and 5% amplitude points at 124.0, 60.2, and 40.2 hours Monthly: Simple average of all daily values; calculated if 7 or fewer days are missing Span of data : 08 Aug 1984 - 31 Dec 2018 Gaps > 1 mon : 03 Feb 2002 - 23 Apr 2002;10 Apr 2009 - 13 May 2009 Time Refernce: GMT (hours 00-23) Space-filler Flag :-9999 Units : millimeters Missing Data Flag : 9999 Existing : Yes Operational : Yes Sat. Trans. : No Distribution : 1984-2018 Refernce Levl: The sea level heights are referred to the zero point assigned to the tide station. Tide Gauge Bench Mark I is A112, 10.136m (Chart Datum). Comment : The residuals (observed data minus predicted tides) are very noisy, probably due to shallow water and complex coastal geometry effects that are not resolved by the harmonic analysis. The hourly data may also contain periods with timing errors which are not offset by increments of one hour; however, these periods are not identifiable due to the large fluctuations in the residuals from the unresolved harmonic analysis. Otherwise, the daily and monthly values do not reveal any obvious reference level shifts and agree well with the nearest station, Darwin. SPECIAL NOTE TO USERS OF NAT.
