QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF SEA LEVEL DATA by the UH SEA LEVEL CENTER/NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA CENTER JOINT ARCHIVE FOR SEA LEVEL updated: 22 May 2017 Station : Kelang Latitude: 03 03.0N Country : Malaysia Longitude: 101 21.5E JASL # : 140A Time Meridian: 120E (GMT + 8 hr) GLOSS # : none Originator #: PTK NODC #: 10103101 Contributor : Dept. of Survey and Mapping Jalan Gurney 50578 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Originator : same Original Data: digital; samples taken every 10 sec; 50 sec average Instrmnt Type: Magnetic Tape Type Tide Gauge, Model LLT- 3AD (Kyowa Shoko Co. Trans. : No Distribution : 1983-2015 Refernce Levl: The sea level heights are referred to the zero point assigned to the tide gauge. Bench mark information is available upon request from the contributors. Comment : The residual series are very noisy which is probably due to shallow water tides that are not resolved by the harmonic analysis. The daily and monthly means of Kelang and neighboring stations, Keling and Lumut, agree very well. Thus, this data set is assumed to be of good quality. Hourly residuals show a mean level drop 25 Aug 2011 and rise of similar height 09 Sep 2011. The feature is suspicious.
