QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF SEA LEVEL DATA by the UH SEA LEVEL CENTER/NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA CENTER JOINT ARCHIVE FOR SEA LEVEL updated: 26 Sep 2013 Station : Port Stanvac Latitude: 35 06.5S Country : Australia Longitude: 138 28.0E JASL # : 100A Time Meridian: 135E (GMT + 09 hr) GLOSS # : none Originator #: 61583 NODC #: 33135801 Contributor : National Tidal Centre, Bureau of Meteorology PO Box 421 Kent Town SA 5071 South Australia AUSTRALIA Originator : same; Australian Baseline Sea Level Monitoring Project Original Data: digital Instrmnt Type: 1992-29/Sep/2009- Aquatrak acoustic gauge, Sutron Logger (SL) 29/Sep/2009- acoustic gauge Telmet T320 Aquatrak Controller (TAC); Digitzd Intvl: TAC: Weighted average of 4, 1-minute readings; 1-minute reading is average of 60, 1-sec samples SL: used 6-minute samples average of 181, 1-second samples. Present Data : Hourly, daily, and monthly values obtained by: Hourly : filter with a cut-off of 2 hours Daily : 119-point convolution filter (Bloomfield, 1976) centered on noon applied to the hourly data with respective periods of the 95, 50, and 5% amplitude points at 124.0, 60.2, and 40.2 hours Monthly: Simple average of all daily values; calculated if 7 or fewer days are missing Span of data : 23 Jun 1992 - 30 Nov 2010 Gaps > 1 mon : none Time Refernce: GMT (hours 00-23) Space-filler Flag :-9999 Units : millimeters Missing Data Flag : 9999 Existing : Yes Operational : Yes Sat. Trans. : No Distribution : 1992-2010 Refernce Levl: Vertical Reference Frame is Tide Gauge Zero TGBM Name/Number: 6527/8394 SEAFRAME sensor BM TGBM Elevation relative to the vertical reference: 6.2981m Australian Height Datum or 7.5781 TGZ Comment : The hourly resdiuals (observations minus predicted tides) show fluctuations at times within the tidal cycle frequency bands. It is assumed this is due to the inability of the tidal analysis to resolve well all the tidal constituents. There are also large fluctuations ~days associated with transient weather patterns. The timing of the instrument is assumed of high quality. The gauge was removed in late 2010. It is unlikely that the gauge will be re-installed as the jetty is to be removed.
