How to Submit Data to the JASL

The JASL encourages contributions of hourly data to its growing archive. The JASL prefers to receive hourly data sets that have received calibration of the measured values to a fixed datum and that have been quality controlled for spikes, timing shifts, or other obvious errors. Raw data are accepted on rare occassions depending upon the scientific significance of the tide gauge site. Technical advise on data processing and software are available upon request.

Any well described format is welcome. Please clearly define the location (latitude and longitude), the time zone, the scientific units, and the flagging system for missing, interpolated, or erroneous data points.

The JASL would like to receive supplemental documents describing the tide gauge site, the instrumentation, the filters for data reduction, the calibration devises and methods, reference level definition, bench mark descriptions, quality control procedures, and a history of changes to the original data set.

Transfer can be accomodated through use of PC diskettes or other media. For FTP transfer, first contact the JASL for instructions.
